Q + A

Transportation

How do I get to and from the venue?

For our guests staying in the city center, transportation will be provided to and from the venue for all events. Transportation will depart from the Plaza Hotel Lucchesi (see Travel tab for details), and is available for both hotel guests and those staying nearby in the city. Specific shuttle schedules will be posted here as we get closer to the big day!

For guests staying in the countryside, individual transportation must be coordinated.

What is the address of the venue?

The wedding ceremony and reception will be held at the Villa Medicea, located at:

Villa Medicea di Lilliano

Via Lilliano e Meoli, 82

50012, Bagno a Ripoli, Firenze

The welcome party and farewell lunch will be held at the La Torre garden on the Lilliano estate, located at:

La Torre Residences

Via Lilliano e Meoli, 23

50012, Bagno a Ripoli, Firenze

How do I travel in and around Florence?

The best way to enjoy the city is to travel around on foot! That said, if you are in need of a ride (travelling outside of the city, going to the airport, etc.) there are a number of services we recommend:

Ride Share apps: appTaxi, itTaxi

These apps are similar to Uber but are more commonly and widely used throughout the city. Wait times and driver availability can vary, so remember to give yourself a comfortable window of time to request a ride. We do not recommend using Uber while in Florence, as availability is infrequent and prices are are high.

Direct Taxi Services: +390554390, +390554242

You can also call these services directly to schedule your ride, and both companies will be happy to assist you in English. For time-sensitive trips, large groups, and trips to the airport, we recommend booking your rides this way for added reliability. Rides can be called in real-time or scheduled in advance.

Do I need to rent a car?

If you are staying and planning to spend the majority of your free time within the city, we do not recommend renting a car. Parking and navigating the city streets can get quite tricky, and a car should not be needed for most activities.

If you are staying outside of the city, planning a day trip into surrounding towns, or would like longer-term access to a car, rental cars can be easily coordinated via Avis or Hertz through the Florence airport.

What time should I arrive to the Ceremony?

Guests will begin to arrive to Villa Medicea for the ceremony on Saturday between 5:15pm and 5:30pm. Shuttle schedule to be posted here for all guests coming in from the city center.

Can I call ad-hoc transportation to and from the venue at any time?

We strongly encourage all guests to travel to and from the venue via the provided shuttles. Because the venue is on the outskirts of Florence, real-time ride share or taxi calls to and from the venue will be challenging (increasingly so at late-night hours).

Do I have to stay until 2am?

While we happily welcome all guests to stay with us until the end of the night, we will be running an early shuttle trip back to Plaza Hotel Lucchesi for any guests who do not wish to stay until 2am. Exact shuttle times to be shared closer to August.

Attire

What should I wear to the Welcome Party?

Men: suit and tie, lightweight fabrics welcome (please kindly avoid sneakers or sandals)

What should I wear to the Farewell Lunch?

On Sunday, attire for lunch is Casual - please feel free to come as you are! We are expecting midday weather to be quite hot in August, so lunch will be held indoors with access to outdoor patios.

Weather

What will the weather be like in August?

On average, weather in Grassina, Florence in August can reach up to 90-95 degrees during peak hours. How are we planning for this?

- At the recommendation of our vendors, our ceremony will begin at 6pm in the evening to allow for cooler temperatures

- Ceremony beverages will be offered to keep guests hydrated and cool prior to cocktail hour

- Indoor, air-conditioned spaces will be nearby at all times for any guests who need a cool down

Will events be held indoor or outdoor?

The welcome party will be held outdoors at night, at the La Torre garden. Indoor spaces will be nearby and accessible if needed.

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner will be held outdoors. Dancing will take place indoors.

The farewell lunch will be held indoors in the early afternoon, with access to outdoor patios.
